Ministries
Below is the ministires that the Cheney UCC is invloved in. For more information on them please contact us.
Feed Cheney
For the past five years Feed Cheney has been uniting our community through food and service offered with dignity and respect. Started by Cheney UCC in 2010 it has become a community recognized resource for guests and volunteers alike. Currently the Cheney Methodist and Cheney Nazarene Church collaborate with Cheney UCC to successfully organize a free, four course community dinner and grocery distribution on the last Monday of each month. Several others local churches and organizations support the program through financial donations as well as volunteer time and talents such as music. EWU provides at least 20-30 student volunteers each month and organizes an additional Feed Cheney grocery distribution the second Monday of the month. Learn more at www.feedcheney.com
Cross Walk
Cheney UCC, specifically Women’s Fellowship, has supported Crosswalk for years in the form of providing lunch once a month and with financial donations. This has been very helpful because Crosswalk provided almost 10000 meals in 2014. Seventy per cent of funding comes from donations. That takes a many caring people.
Crosswalk is a shelter for street kids and at-risk youth 13 to 18 years old. After 18 they can no longer receive overnight services or participate in meals although they may be eligible for Care Packages. Spokane Falls Community College provides school during the day. School is available to kids until they are 21 years old, and all are welcome to have lunch.
